Joint communication SSM, SSI SSHH regarding the Annual Meeting 2020, Geneva

More than a year ago, the SSM, SSI, and SSHH embarked on the task of preparing what was to be the first of a series of regular joint meetings between our societies. This was obviously without considering the emergence of COVID-19 and the massive consequences this epidemic would have all across the world. Today, after a semi-confinement, the Swiss society is slowly but surely opening up again.

After careful assessment of the risks, we, SSM, SSI, and SSHH, have decided to postpone to 2021 the SSM-related part of the meeting, which featured the participation of a number of international speakers. We felt that the scientific exchange as cherished by the SSM would greatly suffer from the current conditions. The annual assembly of the SSM will still take place on September 3, 2020, by using a remote video conference system. More detailed information will follow.

The SSI-SSHH will go ahead with the planning of the annual face-to-face meeting promoting education and scientific exchange with a clinical focus.

A modified program will be soon made available and all the information concerning submission deadlines and other important aspects of the meeting will be adjusted and published shortly on the website of the meeting, as well as on the websites of our societies.

We hope that the SSM members who already submitted an abstract understand and support this decision, and we apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause.
