The conference is the front runner in the field of microbial ecology, with an expected 2000 international scientists that attend the conference. ISME17 will take place in charming Leipzig, a city used to bringing people together, as the very first trade fair in the world took place here, back in the 12^th century. The city also harbors a rich cultural history, when it comes to music and the performing arts. Composers Bach and Mendelssohn Bartholdy and philosophers Goethe, Nietsche and Leibniz all called the city their home. Being a true university city, there is a strong local scientific community, ready to show you their city.
